Kira's Oasis has had an ABSOLUTELY TERRIFIC run but the studio is officially closed to events and will stop offering classes as of Saturday, January 14th. I think A LOT of people had a lot of fun, growth and entertainment!!! I have been dancing since 1998 when I first saw Laylia at the Renn Fair in Waynesville and fell in love with her dance, Middle Eastern music and her, of course, upon seeing and hearing it in that moment for the first time. Since then, I have sponsored or co-sponsored 95 Hafla's at the Oasis alone (which opened in October of 2003) plus 3 years of monthly Hafla's at the Christopher Club before that!! I have also sponsored approximately 50 workshop opportunities with some of the biggest stars in Middle Eastern dance and 14 Burlesque shows that blew our minds! I could never have done all that without the help of so many wonderful people who showed their support in so many love-filled ways, through attendance, spreading the word, slinging a mop or stacking chairs, and so much more !!! It was a monumental effort by MANY people that resulted in FANTASTIC things that happened here that will be forever preserved in the Galleries of pictures on this website and FB. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for the YEARS of stellar support you all have given me and the venue I created! Please stay tuned as I re-invent myself and make some changes to my path. This website will stay active and be an official update to my endeavors.
Classes WILL run following their current day/time schedule through the last BD class being offered which is Tribal on Sunday, January 15th, 2012. This website will also post where the Oasis teachers resume their classes and how to contact each one. Obvious patience will be required as it will take time to change all the pages of this extensive website to reflect this.
Please see the January 2012 calendar for the final schedule of classes
There will be no more Hafla's, belly dance or other such events at this venue sponsored by Kira for now but this website will keep you posted.
