What to wear and bring to class
It is very important that of the day of your class you do not apply any lotions, creams, oils, etc to your hands or body. These transfer from your body to the pole making the pole slippery and dangerous.
Please be courteous of your own and the other students safety. While we clean the poles often during class, it is still necessary to come to class LOTION FREE!!!
The most ideal attire for pole dancing are short shorts (the shorter the better!) and a sports bra or tank top. Pole dancing requires bare skin of the arms and legs to make contact with the pole, and the more area you expose the better your “cling” factor. If you are uncomfortable in shorts, you may wear yoga pants or sweat pants, just pick a style that is loose and stretchy so that you can pull them up over your knees. It is strongly suggested that you bring shorts with you should you find that pants inhibit your training and you end up wanting to change. You will not need shoes for the beginner session.
Please remove all rings, necklaces, bracelets, watches, and anklets before class. Jewelry scratches and damages the pole and your chances of developing blisters and calluses are increased. Also, refrain from wearing dangling earrings. They may get caught on something.
Class content - What's it all about?
The pole dancing classes at Kira’s Oasis emphasize on three different aspects of this beautiful performing art: fitness, empowerment, and exotic movement.
Pole dancing, for fitness, is a popular and recognized form of aerobic and anaerobic exercise. Regular pole dancing can…
- tone your muscles, without “bulking up”, creating a lean and sleek you
- improve core strength, flexibility, and endurance
- provide a great cardio workout to increase metabolism and contribute to your weight loss program.
Even though the physical benefits to pole dancing are quite significant this is not just another hum-drum trip to the gym! You’ll be having so much fun that you won’t realize what a great workout you are getting!
Until the next day, perhaps!
Pole dancing, for empowerment, helps you feel GREAT about you. This class provides a non-competitive, accepting, and supportive environment where you can feel safe to learn or relearn a way of moving that’s been lost in the hustle and bustle of daily life. Pole dancing can be about performing for some, but first you must learn to dance for YOU! Building self-esteem and embracing femininity are key points stressed in this class.
Pole dancing, exotically, will teach you to claim your sensuality and expand upon it. Learn to present yourself in a powerfully sexual and artistic manner. There is no nudity or stripping permitted during the class. However, the techniques applied are just as, if not more, effective.
Who Can Take Pole Dancing Lessons?
Classes are open to women only, who are 18 years old and beyond. All sizes and builds are able to participate in beginner classes. The only exceptions are those who have chronic and/or debilitating muscular, skeletal, or joint pathologies. As with any exercise regimen, you are strongly urged to consult with your physician before beginning lessons. While this is incredibly fun and you will learn a variety of sexy movements in addition to the Pole work, the pole work itself is a STENUOUS activity that you will need to work up to being able to do. Please be patient with your body and just have fun!!
Will We Loose Weight?
We get asked daily if you can loose weight pole dancing. Like all weight loss programs diet and exercise are equally important. Pole dancing is a mixture of ballet, gymnastics and weight training. You will burn about 5 calories per minute of pole dancing.
To loose weight you need use more calories than you intake. First figure out how many calories you are eating in a day. Then cut that amount by 15 - 20%. Also add 20 to 60 minutes of exercise 3 days a week. Don't forget your water and stress relief techniques.
We try to stay away from this question because we want all women to love who they are and not be so obsessive over body image. We are women however and no matter how much we deny we too look in the mirror and think - I need to lose some weight. Pole Dancing is an awesome, fun and sexy way toward making that happen.
Private POLE Party
Need some practice time on the pole? Current students of Isabella’s class can rent the studio for $20 an hour (day-time rate), per person – up to 4 people for practicing on the pole. No instructor will be present and is not a “class” and practice at your own risk. You might want to grab the mats and put them on the floor at the base of the pole, just in case! It is wise to double up practice time so that you can spot each other. Only the student(s) booking the time on the pole to practice can be in the studio, no additional guests or observers may be present. Please call the studio to arrange your time and coordinate it with the Oasis assistant’s schedule. If you need to book the studio in the evening, those hours are very limited in availability and the rate will be higher. Contact the studio for more detail.
Want a private or semi-private (up to 4 people) lesson? You can book Isabella’s time for $45.00/hour for 1 person and $35.00/hour for 2 or more people. This is an excellent way to have some undivided attention and assistance from Isabella to grow your skill in this art more quickly. Again, only the booking student(s) can be in attendance. No observers or additional guests.
Want a girl’s night out, bachelorette party or larger group practice session? You can book the studio and have a class just for YOUR group with Isabella! Rent the studio for $75 for a 2 hour session with Isabella plus $20 per lady attending. 5 person minimum, 12 person maximum on the Poles. Bring your own food, beverages, decorations, etc and hold your party here! Start your evening with a Pole/Sexy Moves class and you can still have the rest of the evening for continuing the party on elsewhere! Check the Oasis calendar for availability or call the Oasis at (937) 620-1678 to begin the booking process. Standard rental contract, deposit, Membership Form signing is all required. Everyone in attendance at the party must sign the Membership/Waiver of Liability form.
Just call the studio to book any of these options and we will help coordinate the scheduling between the You, Isabella and the studio availability to meet your needs.
Want a pole of your own? Kira sells them through Pure Romance! Just hop onto her site! http://KiraLaFave.PureRomance.com or call her at (937) 694-8953 and she can order one for you to pick up at the studio.
About the Instructor
Isabella first started dancing at the age of 3 when her mother enrolled her in a creative movement ballet class. She continued taking ballet for 10 years, studying under the Dayton Ballet and the South Dayton School of Dance. In 2001 she began exotic dancing at local gentlemen’s clubs and remained in that occupation for 6 years while getting her college degree during the day. In 2007 she graduated as a Radiologic Technologist. She is a lovely and talented dancer who will delightfully share her skill with you.
