About the Instructor

Karen began dance at the age of 3 when her mother enrolled her in a Creative Movement Class. She continued taking ballet and modern classes for 10 years, studying under the Dayton Ballet and the South Dayton School of Dance. Karen is self-taught in the art of pole with 6 years of personal experience. She has passed on her knowledge to many women since she began teaching in July of 2008. Karen also works as a Radiologic Technologist and competes at a national level in the National Physique Commitee.

What to wear and bring to class

It is very important that of the day of your class you do not apply any lotions, creams, oils, etc to your hands or body.  These transfer from your body to the pole making the pole slippery and dangerous.

Please be courteous of your own and the other students safety.  While we clean the poles often during class, it is still necessary to come to class LOTION FREE!!!

The most ideal attire for pole dancing are short shorts (the shorter the better!) and a sports bra or tank top.  Pole dancing requires bare skin of the arms and legs to make contact with the pole, and the more area you expose the better your “cling” factor.  If you are uncomfortable in shorts, you may wear yoga pants or sweat pants, just pick a style that is loose and stretchy so that you can pull them up over your knees.  It is strongly suggested that you bring shorts with you should you find that pants inhibit your training and you end up wanting to change.  You will not need shoes for the beginner session.

Please remove all rings, necklaces, bracelets, watches, and anklets before class.  Jewelry scratches and damages the pole and your chances of developing blisters and calluses are increased.  Also, refrain from wearing dangling earrings.  They may get caught on something.

Class content - What's it all about?

The pole dancing classes at Kira’s Oasis emphasize on three different aspects of this beautiful performing art: fitness, empowerment, and exotic movement.

Pole dancing, for fitness, is a popular and recognized form of aerobic and anaerobic exercise.  Regular pole dancing can…

  • tone your muscles, without “bulking up”, creating a lean and sleek you
  • improve core strength, flexibility, and endurance
  • provide a great cardio workout to increase metabolism and contribute to your weight loss program.

Even though the physical benefits to pole dancing are quite significant this is not just another hum-drum trip to the gym!  You’ll be having so much fun that you won’t realize what a great workout you are getting!

Until the next day, perhaps!

Pole dancing, for empowerment, helps you feel GREAT about you.  This class provides a non-competitive, accepting, and supportive environment where you can feel safe to learn or relearn a way of moving that’s been lost in the hustle and bustle of daily life.  Pole dancing can be about performing for some, but first you must learn to dance for YOU!  Building self-esteem and embracing femininity are key points stressed in this class.

Pole dancing, exotically, will teach you to claim your sensuality and expand upon it.  Learn to present yourself in a powerfully sexual and artistic manner.  There is no nudity or stripping permitted during the class.  However, the techniques applied are just as, if not more, effective.

Who Can Take Pole Dancing Lessons?

Classes are open to women only, who are 18 years old and beyond.  All sizes and builds are able to participate in beginner classes.  The only exceptions are those who have chronic and/or debilitating muscular, skeletal, or joint pathologies.  As with any exercise regimen, you are strongly urged to consult with your physician before beginning lessons.  While this is incredibly fun and you will learn a variety of sexy movements in addition to the Pole work, the pole work itself is a STENUOUS activity that you will need to work up to being able to do.  Please be patient with your body and just have fun!!

Will We Loose Weight?

We get asked daily if you can loose weight pole dancing. Like all weight loss programs diet and exercise are equally important. Pole dancing is a mixture of ballet, gymnastics and weight training. You will burn about 5 calories per minute of pole dancing.

To loose weight you need use more calories than you intake. First figure out how many calories you are eating in a day. Then cut that amount by 15 - 20%. Also add 20 to 60 minutes of exercise 3 days a week. Don't forget your water and stress relief techniques.

We try to stay away from this question because we want all women to love who they are and not be so obsessive over body image. We are women however and no matter how much we deny we too look in the mirror and think - I need to lose some weight. Pole Dancing is an awesome, fun and sexy way toward making that happen.

Oasis Pole Students ONLY - Practice Time or Private/Semi Private Instruction

OASIS POLE STUDENTS ONLY: Need some practice time on the pole?  Present or past students of Kira's Oasis can rent the studio for $20 an hour (day-time rate), PER PERSON – up to 4 people for practicing on the pole.  No instructor will be present and is not a “class” and practice at your own risk.  You might want to grab the mats and put them on the floor at the base of the pole, just in case!  It is wise to double up practice time so that you can spot each other.

**Only the student(s) booking the time on the pole to practice can be in the studio, no additional guests or observers may be present.
Please call the studio to arrange your time and coordinate it with the Oasis assistant’s schedule.  If you need to book the studio in the evening, those hours are very limited in availability and the rate will be higher.  Contact the studio for more detail. (937) 620-1678

OASIS POLE STUDENTS ONLY: Want a private or semi-private (up to 4 people) lesson?  You can book Isabella’s time for $40.00/hour for 1 person and $30.00/hour for 2 or more people.  This is an excellent way to have some undivided attention and assistance from Isabella to grow your skill in this art more quickly.  Again, only the booking OASIS student(s) can be in attendance.  No observers or additional guests.

**A 50% deposit is required to book the private/semi-private lesson to reserve the studio and Isabella's time.
Oasis Pole students do not need to pay the studio rental fee to use the studio for practice or private time with Isabella

Private POLE Lessons or ""Party"" at the studio

Want a girl’s night out, bachelorette party or larger group lesson?  Even if you are not an Oasis Pole student, you can book the studio and have a class just for YOUR group with Isabella!  Rent the studio for $35 for a 1 or 2 hour session with Isabella plus $20 per lady attending, per hour.
*** 4 person minimum, 12 person maximum on the Poles.
Bring your food, beverages, party favors, table decorations, or have your event catered, whatever you envision for the success of your get-together and hold your party here!

Check out the content below to decide how you would like to structure your party and what content you would like to choose!!

Start your evening with a Pole/Sexy Moves class and you can still have the rest of the evening for continuing the party on elsewhere!  Check the Oasis calendar for availability or call the Oasis at (937) 620-1678 to begin the booking process.  Standard rental contract, deposit, Membership Form signing is all required.  Everyone in attendance at the party must sign the Membership/Waiver of Liability form.

Just call the studio to book any of these options and we will help coordinate the scheduling between the You, Isabella and the studio availability to meet your needs.

**The $35 Studio rental is required as a deposit up front to book a Party which reserves the studio AND 50% of the total # of ladies coming in your group up front to book Isabella's time.
For Example: You have a party of 6 ladies for 1 hour. You pay the $35 deposit to book the studio for your group. 6 ladies at $20 each is $120.00 and half of that, or $60 would be required to book Isabella's time. The remaining $60 would be due the day you come to the studio for your party.
The deposits to the studio and Isabella are non-refundable if you cancel your party because we saved both studio time and instructors time for your group.

Want a pole of your own?  Kira sells them through Pure Romance!  Just hop onto her site!   http://KiraLaFave.PureRomance.com or call her at (937) 694-8953 and she can order one for you to pick up at the studio. You can also book Kira for a Pure romance party in conjunction with your Pole party with Isabella!

CHOOSE YOUR OPTION(s):
Perfect for bachelorette parties, birthday parties, or just a girls night out! Parties are offered as 1 or 2 hours long...for a 1 hour party choose one or two dance styles...for 2 hour parties you can select up to three different styles.

DANCE STYLE CHOICES:

Pole Dancing:
Become familiar with this very sensual and graceful dance form. Learn a routine, designed for those new to the pole, that includes spins, transitions, and poses. Go ahead, give it a whirl!
Suggestions: Do not apply lotion or oil the day of the party, it makes the pole slippery and is hazardous to yourself and others. Bring a pair of shorts (the shorter the better) or wear loose work-out pants that can be rolled up high on your thigh. Footwear is completely up to you...barefoot, socks, or heels are all appropriate. Bring a camera! You'll definitely want some pictures of yourself in these gorgeous poses.

Floorwork: Exotic dance at its best. Learn how to move with sexy flair both vertically and horizontally. Special attention is given to making "seamless" transitions from being upright, to the floor, and back up again. Suggestions: Wear loose clothing that does not restrict movement. You can dance barefoot or in heels.

Chair: Classic and sophisticated. Learn an enticing and alluring routine that emphasizes posture, alignment, and balance.
Suggestions: Wear loose clothing that does not restrict movement. You can dance barefoot or in heels.

Striptease: Satisfy your inner burlesque dancer. Learn to tastefully peel off the layers one by one.
Suggestions: Call 937-620-1678 or Email us at: kira@kirasoasis.com to customize items of clothing and/or props for your group. There is no nudity during the lesson. You will layer your removable garments over regular clothing.

Private POLE Lessons or ""Party"" at YOUR location

Yes, we offer off-site pole parties!
We have a stand-alone pole stage, meaning, the pole is attached to a podium, all of which is self sustained, there is no attachment to your floor or ceiling. However there are some guidelines that must be followed:
1. The stage is a little heavy...so transport within your home is most ideal when there are as few stairs as possible (i.e. the home is on the 3rd floor of an apartment complex...eesh!).
2. Also, the pole is 8 ft tall with podium...most rooms accommodate this height but it is a question we must ask. It is a MUST that there is 8 feet + 6 inches clearance so that the pole can be erected once it is in the room you have chosen that meets this criteria.
3. We ask that you have a CARPETED place in mind in the home to use for the party and have that space cleared of furniture before the arrival of the pole...the stage is 4ft x 4ft so having a 6ft x 6ft space cleared should be plenty of room.

I have a selection of cds with a mix of the latest "club" music that I bring with me but you are free to play whatever you like best...I do not bring a stereo with me as most people have a cd player at home.

Set up takes around 20min as well as tear-down.

There is a 5 participant minimum to book a party...there is no maximum but for every ones benefit I would probably limit it to 10 people because there is only one pole ( I want everyone to get a good amount of time on the pole!)

Pricing is as follows...pole rental is $35, transport/gas fee is dependent upon location ( we are in Centerville), participant fee is $20 per person per hour (I suggest that for parties with more than 5 participants that you book a 2 hour party so everyone gets adequate time on the pole). I can also incorporate a little floor work, chair-dancing, striptease, or lap dancing if you like and if you have adequate space and equipment.

I hope this gives you some in-sight into planning your party! If you any more questions feel free to Email the Oasis at: kira@kirasoasis.com or call us at 937-620-1678.
