FIRST of all, before we talk about November’s Hafla, please let me just thank each and every one of you who attended the October Halloween Hafla, the Oasis’s 5th year anniversary with Aziza. What a great party night that was!! I was overwhelmed by the attendance and I cannot even express to you how much I appreciate it! It seems that just when I am second guessing the studio’s future existence an incredibly wonderful hafla like this one happens and renews my energy, desire and love for this art form and my commitment to this place that provides opportunity to enjoy it. THANK YOU! The performers that came up to entertain us, wowed us with their talent and I cannot thank you enough for coming to dance for us for this special occasion! Thank you to everyone who came out to see our performers that night and create the amazingly fun party we all enjoyed! Costumes that night were AWESOME! You are all so creative and fun loving!! Whoohooo!

I realize a lot of the info in the Newsletter is repetitive each month, like instructions and details about the Belly Dance Hafla Night, but there are new email addresses being added as people sign up to receive the Newsletter, all the time! Each Newsletter sent could be the first time it is read by a new requester. I am sure this makes sense to those of you who have received the Newsletter for a long time and I thank you for your tolerance!

She will perform at our November Hafla, Friday the 14th and give a workshop on Saturday, Nov 15th.

Date: Saturday, November 15th, 2008: 4 Hour…ish workshop (sometimes we run a little bit over)
Time: 12:00 – 4:00 pm with a brief break (bring a snack)
Cost: $35 per person, in advance or at the door
Content: “Spirited Away” Bringing Compassion, Devotion and Soul to your dance practice. Indian Hand Gestures (Mudras), Great Combos for Duets, & Soulful Fosse Inspired Belly Dance Choreography.
In this workshop the dancer will explore 3 varied avenues for putting the soul into her dance. Starting in the ancient and classic, the dancers will warm up with delicate and meditative Indian hand mudras. The dancer will also focus on techniques for creating beautiful language in the wrist and finger tips. Building on this, we will explore a few dance combinations of movements that highlight the seamless grace and interrelationship between 2 dancers onstage. These combinations will focus on body line and floor patterns that draw the dancers together with movements that weave the duet across the floor. Finishing the workshop will be a short, hot belly dance choreography inspired by the body lines and steps of Bob Fosse, (master broadway director and choreographer).
This is a well rounded workshop that seeks to draw from a variety of emotions and moods to enhance any dancer’s performance and dance practice.

Michelle L’amour is back to the Oasis to give us a Chicago Style Burlesque show! The show will feature Michelle, some of her dancers from Chicago and many of our local talented beauties too!!!
